When you have a cold, it is important to get good rest and nutrition.
If you have a difficult time with a cold, it is also useful to make use of cold medicines.

Before you get a cold...
1 Make it a habit to wash your hands and gargle when you return from outside.
80-90% of colds are caused by viruses. Therefore, it is advisable to wash your hands and gargle. This alone can prevent a lot of colds. Washing hands with soap and hot water and gargling with gargle medicine are even more effective.
2 Condition your body on a daily basis.
Daily health care is important to avoid catching a cold. If your body is not in good condition, you are more susceptible to viral infections. Avoid stress and fatigue, get a good night's sleep and improve your strength and immunity.
3 Pay proper attention to your daily diet.
To prevent a cold, you should also pay attention to your diet. Make sure you eat plenty of green and yellow vegetables and fruit, which are rich in vitamins C and A, both of which are involved in various immune functions.
4 Change the air in the room by frequent ventilation.
To prevent colds, it is important to keep indoor air clean. Open windows in two directions as much as possible to let fresh air in. Also, as the air is drier in winter, use a humidifier to keep the air humid.

If you get a "Maybe it's a cold..."
1 Rest first, and rest well.
If you catch a cold, it is important not to let it get worse. Get plenty of sleep in a warm room with high humidity. If you sweat, wipe it off well and try to keep your body cool.
2 If there is no fever, take a bath to warm up slowly.
The steam from the bath provides moisture to the mucous membranes of the nose and throat. Take care to bathe slowly in lukewarm water, which is less physically exhausting, and to keep your body cool after bathing.
However, do not take long baths.
3 Get proper nutrition even if you don't have an appetite.
Along with rest, nutrition is important. Avoid fatty foods and eat foods that are easily digestible and nutritious. Dishes with soup are recommended as they warm you up, are easy to eat even when you have a poor appetite and also help to rehydrate you.
4 Keep cough etiquette in mind.
Coughing and sneezing droplets may contain viruses. To prevent the spread of droplets, make sure you wear a mask. If you have family members living with you, it is recommended to wear a mask in the house.
